The Referral Specialist will coordinate patient referrals to specialist and other medical services as directed by the providers. Retrieve results and prepare for provider review.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Contact other medical facilities to obtain patient appointments as directed by Providers.
- Ensure patients eligible for Little Red Door, BCCP or other special assistance programs are referred appropriately.
- Notify patient of appointments made for tests or to be seen by a specialist.
- Match test results with patient chart for review by Providers.
- Ensure Receptionist has an adequate supply of BCCP packages. Obtain additional packages as needed.
- Manage and process the patient medical record requests.
- Respond to messages left on personal voice mailbox in a timely manner.
- Examines and verifies financial documents and reports.
- Interprets services and policies to patients and families
- Contact patients for follow up appointments as indicated by providers.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of patient information.
- Functions as patient advocate and communicates warmth and understanding to Centers patients and their families.
- Understands JPCHC’s relationship with the community and maintains positive image and relationships.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent Required.
- Previous experience in medical office or health care setting preferred.
- Knowledge of medical office practices, procedures and equipment preferred.
- bilingual – English /Spanish preferred.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (specifically Word and Excel), Electronic Medical and Health records, and other applications.
