Position Summary: Director of Pharmacy Operations / Pharmacist-in-Charge

As the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) and Director of Pharmacy Operations, you will report directly to the Chief Medical Officer and collaborate closely with the leadership team, including the 340B Program Manager, Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, practice managers, and others. Your leadership will ensure that our pharmacy operations are compliant, financially sustainable, and focused on patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Compliance: Oversee pharmacy operations, ensuring adherence to state and federal regulations, including 340B and HRSA guidelines. Manage all pharmacy initiatives, ensuring they align with the goals of Jane Pauley Community Health Center (JPCHC).

  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the pharmacy department staff, recruit and train pharmacists and technicians, and guide their professional development.

  • Strategic Oversight: Develop and manage long-term strategies for the pharmacy, ensuring efficient and cost-effective service delivery.

  • Clinical Integration: Collaborate with the broader clinical team to ensure pharmacy services support chronic disease management and patient wellness.

  • Continuous Improvement: Utilize methodologies like Six Sigma and lean to identify opportunities for process improvement, enhance service quality, and maintain high reliability in pharmacy operations.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including community partners, vendors, and healthcare providers.


Key Qualifications:

  • Education: PharmD from an accredited school of pharmacy. A business graduate degree (MS, MBA, MHA) is preferred. Ambulatory pharmacy residency is a plus.

  • Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible pharmacy management experience in a community or ambulatory healthcare setting. Familiarity with the FQHC model of care and the 340B program is essential.

  • Skills: Strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to manage relationships effectively. A track record of decision-making, problem-solving, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic health records is required.

  • Licensing: Valid Indiana Pharmacy license (without restrictions).

  • Certifications: Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery (APhA) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications are required.
